Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m., beginning Feb. 15 through April 30, per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Bring your pup to the park and start the new year off in a pawsitively awesome way. Join a park ranger and his bark ranger companion for a hike to the Potomac River at Boyd's Hole and back. Along the way we will stop to discuss park history and doggy trail etiquette.

Your dog companions should be pup friendly and need to remain on a leash (VA law). Bring water and snacks for both yourself and your canine companions. Dress for the weather. The hike is 3.5 miles round trip on easy to moderate gravel trails.
