Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m., beginning Feb. 15 through April 30, per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Jones-Stewart Mansion

The Jones-Stewart Mansion is a stunning example of an antebellum plantation house built in 1854. The home offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of two historic families that lived here at Chippokes. This historical building tour is designed to highlight the architecture of the time, designs, furnishings, special touches, ornate decor, and stories within the walls of the Jones-Stewart Mansion.
Meet on the back porch of the Jones-Stewart Mansion (facing Mansion Gardens). The last tour will begin at 3:30pm.
Whilst in the historic area, take a peek inside the windows or screen-doors of the Brick Kitchen, stop by the FOC Gift Shop (home to a restored Packard Clipper) Friday-Monday (March-October) from 12:30-3:30pm, peek inside the windows of the Carriage House, stroll through the Mansion Gardens to the final resting place of Mr. & Mrs. Stewart, or walk along Quarter Lane.
