Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m., beginning Feb. 15 through April 30, per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park to host its First Saturday Community Coffee House of the 2023 season.
The Hillbilly Hippies will serve as the featured host for this month’s Coffee House. The Hillbilly Hippies are a mountain music string band that is very proud of their Appalachian roots. They perform a wide variety of music and have performed at several local venues in the area.
The First Saturday Community Coffee House is an open-mic event and is open to all family-friendly performers. All interested musicians, storytellers, and poets should arrive by 6:30 p.m. for sign-up and scheduling. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
