On Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park, staff, volunteers, and period-dressed public historians will be hosting our 16th annual “Veteran’s Day Luminary” commemorative trail illumination. This year we will offer four tours. Visitors with young children, pets, or mobility requirements are encouraged to attend our first tour beginning at 6 p.m. The following tours will begin at 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. Please meet at the park Visitor Center.

We invite visitors to join us for our annual Veteran's Day Luminary commemorative event to honor all those who have served our nation's military, past and present. At dusk, rangers will lead the groups of visitors down an illuminated path where historical vignettes will be recreated by historians describing the scenes from the battles of Sailor's Creek and its immediate aftermath. We will feature all new vignettes this year as we step back in time to catch a glimpse of the battle that helped bring an end to the fighting in Virginia.
