First Day Hike

The legendary Christmas Opossum has come again and has hidden ornaments around the Fern Hollow Trail. Take an easy one mile hike to help us find them, and earn a holiday reward. We'll gather before our journey to explain the rules of the search. Afterwards, join a Ranger for the telling of the Legend of the Christmas Opossum.

This program is free, but let us know you are coming by calling us at (540)663-3861. Please come dressed for the weather and wear sturdy shoes.

Can't make the guided hike? Create your own First Day Hike experience in the park. Explore some of Caledon's earthen paths and get a jump on the new year by getting out, getting active, and enjoying nature. The parking fee is waived on the first day of the year.
