True Art, named in the honor of the Museum's first curator, James True, features the works of today's local artist in a show that celebrates the creativity and talents of our friends and neighbors. This year’s theme is “Memories.”
Adults may submit up to four pieces of artwork no larger than 12 X 16. Adults may enter a variety of mediums, such as drawings, photos, paintings, cross stitch, and sculptures are welcome, provided they fit the size requirements.
The showcase also features a children's art competition and is open to students K-12 and should portray some aspect of "Memories." It could be visiting a quite mountain lake, spending special time with family and friends, or remembering the day you got your first pet. Drawings, photos, and paintings are all welcome. The park requests a maximum size of 8”x11” and smaller submissions are encouraged. Winners in each children’s group will receive certificates at a reception held at the museum on Sunday, March 10 at 2 p.m. in the museums Victorian Parlor.
Participation forms are available by contacting doretha.cole@dcr.virginia.gov. All artworks must be submitted by Friday, February 23 by 4 p.m. The park is closed during the months of January and February. To make arrangements to drop off art, or for more information. please call the park.
