When

Feb. 24, 2024. 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Discover the hidden wonders of temporary ponds and find out why they are essential to the survival of many wildlife populations. We’ll take a walk through the woods to visit one of our 'pools' at the park, where we will search for a variety of tiny creatures. The vernal pool is located off the trail, so we will be walking through brambles and muddy areas. Please wear closed-toed shoes and long pants to protect your feet and legs.

This program is conducted in accordance with Virginia Law; park staff and volunteers possess the proper permits and training to collect and briefly handle wildlife. Due to the sensitive nature of this habitat registration is required, and children must be accompanied by an adult. To register please call (804) 372-0720.

We will meet at the trailhead near the Playground Parking Lot.
