The "Prowl the Powell" nature series kicks off with a walk along the Greenbelt in beautiful Big Stone Gap to coincide with the Great Backyard Bird Count. Since 1998, the Great Backyard Bird Count has become the world's largest biodiversity citizen-science project, and you'll have the opportunity to join.

Led by park rangers and volunteers, this accessible and educational walk follows the Powell River on nearly three miles of paved pathway, where you're certain to see an abundance of Southwest Virginia's great backyard birds.

This walk will take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately. Registration is not required. Binoculars are highly recommended, but not required.
