Join us at Belle Isle for the first Dark Sky themed talk of 2024 about star systems and galaxies with retired NASA engineer and astronomer Brad Perry. “Current estimates place the number of stars in our Milky Way Galaxy at a few hundred billion. But our galaxy is only one of an estimated 200 billion to perhaps up to two trillion galaxies in the universe!”

The program will be held rain or shine Visitor Center. Following the presentation and weather permitting, the group will move outdoors for telescopic viewing of star systems and galaxies.

Belle Isle State Park is applying for recognition as an “International Dark Sky Park” through the International Dark Sky Association so keep an eye out for more programs in the near future too!
