The third installment of the Winter Lecture Series explores a current controversial subject. Dr. Michael Bentley, a native of Roanoke, Virginia, will delve into the issue of climate change. Dr. Bentley is a retired professor from the science and environmental education faculty of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His 38 years of teaching included work at Virginia Tech and National-Louis University in Chicago, as well as directing the Science Institute for Teachers at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia for seven years.

The Winter Lecture Series is presented by the Friends of Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Proceeds go to help fund educational programs and projects in the park. Dates for the 2024 Winter Lecture series include January 7, February 4, March 3, March 17, and April 7. 

Ticket Prices: Single ticket: $10, Season ticket: $30
Friends of SMLSP Member: Single ticket: $8, Season ticket: $24
