Join us at Sailor's Creek Battlefield, as we celebrate Black History Month with the program "Follow the Drinking Gourd." We will begin with a short lecture at the Visitor Center on the Underground Railroad, highlighting the pioneers of that era and their remarkable strength in overcoming challenges. After the lecture, we invite you to tour the Hillsman House, the birthplace of Dr. Robert Russa Moton. During this tour, we will explore his accomplishments and how he triumphed over inequality to establish a lasting legacy. The Underground Railroad lecture will occur at the Visitor Center from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. and conclude with a small lantern activity. The Hillsman House tour and the exploration of Dr. Moton's life will begin at 12:00 p.m. and last approximately a half hour to forty-five minutes.
