The park has over 12 miles of beautiful hiking trails that range in difficulty from easy to moderate. Some trails, such as Lakeview Trail, allow for leisurely strolls, whereas trails like Striper Cove Trail are for the more zealous hiker. Each trail is clearly marked with colored blazes. Signage along some of the trails identify the types of trees, and interpretive signs on Turtle Island Trail educate guests on forest succession. Along the trails, one can take in views of the lake, watch for wildlife or discover signs of the areas' historical past. Always wear appropriate clothing, proper footwear and bring plenty of water. Trail maps are available in several places around the park, including the Visitor Center, boat ramp, Discovery Center and Turtle Island Trailhead. Park trails are open from dawn to dusk.
Optional to bring: camera, hiking stick, insect repellent, sunscreen and binoculars. Pets are welcome if well behaved and are required to stay on a leash at all times while in the park. Please pick up after your pet and dispose of it in a trash receptacle.
