Celebrate National Trails Day with a scenic guided walk along the New River Trail. This easy one-mile round-trip walking tour will take visitors outside one of the oldest mining operations in North America: the Austinville lead mines. A park guide will discuss how Austinville has been part of many historic chapters throughout American history, the changes in technology to mining operations over time, and the social and cultural interactions of a Southwest Virginia mining community.
It is recommended to wear sunscreen and comfortable shoes and bring water.
