When

June 1, 2024. 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Join our staff for a guided tour of Mulberry Hill, the plantation home of Judge Paul Carrington, Virginian and Founding Father. Mulberry Hill was a working tobacco farm owned by the McPhails during the American Civil War and was used by Union General Wilson as his headquarters during the 1864 cavalry raid into Southside Virginia. See the stark contrast of the dependencies including the enslaved quarter kitchen/laundry duplex directly behind the "big house," and explore in conversation the roles of the enslaved supporting the operation.  Take note of Carrington's newly restored law office during your visit too!

Tours will begin promptly at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. Each tour will start on the front porch of the house and will be approximately 35 minutes in length. Park rangers will be available for questions and additional information following each tour.

These tours will include stairs and uneven ground. Pets are NOT permitted inside the house. These tours are FREE and require no reservations. Call (434) 454-4312 for more information.

Mulberry Hill address: 2667 Mulberry Hill Road, Saxe, VA, 23967.
