Where

Smith Mountain Lake State Park, 1235 State Park Rd., Huddleston, VA 24104.
Discovery Center

When

April 7, 2024. 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The final lecture of this season is just the "bees' knees"!

Ann Zudekoff, a Certified Master Beekeeper, will give a very informative talk on the dynamics of the honeybee. Ms. Zudekoff is a member of both the Piedmont Beekeepers Association and the Peaks of Otter Beekeepers Association and maintains her own bee hives. She will be discussing the life cycle of these bees and will highlight some of the various problems that have caused a severe decline in honeybee populations. For those interested in beekeeping and starting their own hive, she will have information on where to attend introductory beekeeping classes.

Refreshments, courtesy of the Friends of SMLSP, will be served at the conclusion of the program.

The Winter Lecture Series is presented by the Friends of Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Proceeds go to help fund educational programs and projects in the park. Dates for the 2024 Winter Lecture series include January 7, February 4, March 3, March 17, and April 7.
