May 17, 2025. 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Do you want your kids to learn how to kayak? Or perhaps you would like them to experience the environment in a unique way on the water. Children 6+ years old and their families are welcome to come to this special Kids to Parks event where all will learn about water safety, paddling skills, and viewing nature from a kayak.
This program is limited to 10 participants, so pre-registration and prepayment is required. You can register here. Payment is $10/person and can be paid by contacting the Visitor Center at (540)288-1400.
Children 6-12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the same kayak, and children 13-17 may paddle solo but must be under the supervision of a parent/guardian. All paddlers are required to wear a properly fitted personal floatation device (PFD). Both PFDs and kayaks are provided by the park, and are included in the registration fee.
The group will meet inside the Visitor Center at 8:30am to check in, before heading down to the Aquia Creek paddle launch together. Be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen, and dress to get wet!
