Where

Smith Mountain Lake State Park, 1235 State Park Rd., Huddleston, VA 24104.
Meet at Main Picnic Area parking lot

When

July 31, 2024. 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Early morning is one of the best times to experience the lake. Wildlife is more likely to be spotted before the lake gets busy with boats and jet skis. We'll take a quiet paddle up Walton's Creek and look for Great Blue Herons, Mallards, Bald Eagles, and more.

Space is limited, so pre-registration is required at our Visitor Center. Registration closes the day before tour at 4:00 p.m. This canoe tour is for ages 6 and older only. The cost is $5 per participant. Closed-toe shoes that stay on feet are required; no flip-flops allowed. Snack, water, hat, and sunscreen are recommended. Optional: insect repellent, binoculars, and camera.
