Aug. 24, 2024. 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to make ink and leaf prints from the husks of the black walnut fruit. The black walnut tree contains a chemical in its roots called Juglone, this chemical acts as a herbicide, preventing other trees from growing near it. This chemical, along with tannin, is found in the leaves and fruit, and can be used as ink. Feel free to bring your own journal, but all program materials will be provided.

Due to limited materials reservations are required. Email Rebecca.Whalen@dcr.virginia.gov or call (804)796-4472 for reservations or more information.
