Participants who are interested in the Prowl the Powell nature series should meet volunteers and park staff at the front gate of the museum. Dates will stay the same, but times are subject to change.

The September Prowl the Powell nature series will be “Fall Wildflowers”. Participants will join park rangers and volunteers on a walk along the Powell River in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Participants will learn about the late summer’s valuable bounty in the form of rich pollinating plants which help local wildlife in their final months of preparation for winter. Guests will leave this walk with a greater understanding of importance of flowers and so-called “weeds” that help make our region one of the biologically diverse in the region.

The Prowl the Powell monthly nature series will be held rain or shine. Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable walking shoes. Binoculars are encouraged but not required. Registration is not required for this program.
