Calling all homeschoolers to join the rangers at Pocahontas State Park for monthly programs on the third Monday of the month. These hands-on programs are designed for the whole family and will introduce everyone to a variety of nature-themed activities.

Orbweaver October - Late summer, until the first freeze of the year, is peak spider season with webs appearing in every nook and cranny. While spiders can be intimidating, they play vital roles in our ecosystems with their wide range of appearance and behaviors making them an interesting study. Learn about the spiders of Virginia and maybe dispel a couple myths along the way.

The cost is $3 per child, with ages 3 and under free of charge; parking fees are waived. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes for hiking. Pack a picnic and enjoy the park afterwards. Programs run from 10:00-11:30 a.m. and 1:00-2:30 p.m.
