In 1899, the National Audubon Society started an Annual Christmas Bird Count which has become the world's longest running citizen science project. The results are used to understand bird populations and dynamics. On Sunday, December 15 we'll be counting the birds at Sweet Run State Park for the Charles Town, WV Christmas Bird Count. Everyone is welcome, though children aged 8 or older are more likely to enjoy the experience. Amateurs are teamed with experienced birders - every eye and ear helps! If you’d like to participate, please contact Joe Coleman (jcoleman@loudounwildlife.org) for details.
