Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Rd., Lancaster, VA 22503.
Visitor Center

When

Nov. 8, 2024. 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Join us for a presentation by Brad Perry, retired NASA engineer and scientist, for a guided tour of our Solar System and highlight the NASA and other missions that have visited the planets.

Brad asks, “Do you know that Mars, although significantly smaller than the Earth, has a canyon larger than the Grand Canyon and a volcano taller than Mount Everest? How about Saturn being able to float in an ocean, if you can find one large enough to support it? Or that Jupiter’s Great Red Spot, a storm larger than the Earth’s diameter, has been raging for at least the last 150 years with winds around 400 mph? Please plan to come and learn about our immediate astronomical neighborhood.”

The program will be held rain or shine and following the presentation, weather permitting, the group will move outdoors for telescopic viewing of the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn.
