Dec. 10, 2024. 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

When the temperatures drop, our heaters crank up; but how do the animals keep warm and survive the long, dark months of Winter?

Part of our new Animal Adaptations series, this first program will explore the physical and social attributes of birds that help them survive the harsh Winter conditions here on the Widewater Peninsula. From the fluffing of feathers and controlling blood flow in their feet, to the mass migration of thousands, birds have a myriad of ways to keep their heat. This program will also cover some of the local history of peoples and their relationships with the Peninsula birds, including the Clifton Duck Hunting Club and the US Presidents who hunted here.
