Feb. 15, 2025. 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual event promoted by the National Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Everyone is invited to spend some time looking for birds, identifying them, and then reporting what they see, so we all get a snapshot of the world's bird population. The park has a variety of habitats to explore and bird species for you to find.

On Saturday, February 15, at 10 a.m. please meet at the Lakeside Diner to take part in a ranger-led introductory level birdwatching walk for about 90 minutes over several park trails. The terrain of all the trails is fairly even ground with some inclines and tree roots. Weather permitting, the walk will be repeated at 2 p.m.

The park restrooms are closed in February, but portable facilities are available at the beach parking lot for your convenience.
