Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m., beginning Feb. 15 through April 30, per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Bluebird Box Building Workshop

Now is the time of year that the Eastern Bluebird begins to nest, and you can help them find a home to raise a family. Members of the Central Piedmont Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalist program will be here with cedar box kits for you to assemble. Due to the limited number of kits, all participants should pre-register by emailing JoAnn Jones at joajonz1@gmail.com or, calling her at (434) 547-9180. A donation of $15 per kit is requested and may be paid at the door.

For more information see the attached document. Parents or a responsible adult must accompany children to the workshop. Refreshments will be provided. In the event of snow, the event will be rescheduled for Sunday, March 2, 2025.
