Keeping up with biodiversity is critical to environmental welfare and Earth Day is the perfect time to discover the diversity in our park. Stop by the Discovery Center during operating hours April 19 through April 26 to pick up a form to take around the park and count flora or fauna species. This plant and animal scavenger hunt is a great way for us to keep track of local diverse populations and make sure that our beautiful park has the biodiversity to thrive. This activity can be done in your own time and may lead to a fun new hobby.

About Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Virginia State Parks offers a range of special events and activities highlighting the importance of conservation and sustainability. Visitors are invited to participate in educational programs, guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tree plantings and service projects to help preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the state’s 43 parks.
