Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m., beginning Feb. 15 through April 30, per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

True Art Showcase and Children’s Contest

True Art, named in the honor of the Museum's first curator, James True, features the works of today's local artist in a show that celebrates the creativity and talents of our friends and neighbors. This year’s theme is “Glimpses of Home.”

 Adults may submit up to four pieces of artwork no larger than 20 x 16. Adults may enter a variety of mediums, such as drawings, photos, paintings, cross stitch, and sculptures are welcome, provided they fit the size requirements.

The showcase also features a children's art competition and is open to students K-12 and should portray some aspect of “Glimpses of Home.”  Drawings, photos, and paintings are welcome. The park requests a maximum size of 8.5”x 11” and welcome smaller submissions. Winners in each children’s group will receive certificates at a reception held at the museum on Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. in the museum's Victorian Parlor

All artworks must be submitted by Friday, February 21 by 4 p.m. The park is closed during the months of January and February. To make arrangements to drop off art, or for more information. please call the park at 276-523-1322.
