Help us celebrate our planet with some special Earth Day programming:
Friday, April 25:
3 p.m. - Tree Identification Hike @ the Howe House
Join us for a scenic hike around the historical Howe House and learn how to identify some of our native trees.
7:30 p.m. - Owl Prowl @ the Interpretive Campfire Circle in Campground D
Come join our rangers for a short walk in the woods as we discuss the owls common to our park and attempt to call them in to join us.
Saturday, April 26:
2 p.m. - Claytor Crafts - Tree Cookies @ the Interpretive Campfire Circle in Campground D
Create something special with natural materials found around the park.
4 p.m. - Shoreline Cleanup @ the Beach Building
Show your appreciation for the planet by helping us clean our shoreline. Gloves are recommended for this program.
7 p.m. - Campfire - Critters of Claytor Lake @ the Interpretive Campfire Circle in Campground D
Have a s'more and relax by the campfire as we talk about what critters are crawling around in our park. Join a ranger with some pelts and bones and learn all about our native animals.
About Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Virginia State Parks offers a range of special events and activities highlighting the importance of conservation and sustainability. Visitors are invited to participate in educational programs, guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tree plantings and service projects to help preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the state’s 43 parks.
