Join us this Earth Day at Douthat State Park to make a lasting impact on our natural landscapes, volunteers will help remove invasive plant species that threaten the park’s native ecosystems.

What to Expect:
- A brief introduction to invasive species and their effects on the environment
- Hands-on removal of targeted invasive plants
- Guidance from park rangers on best removal practices
- Time to explore and enjoy the beauty of Douthat State Park after the event

What to Bring:
- Sturdy, closed-toed shoes
- Work gloves
- Eye protection
- Long pants and sleeves to protect against scratches and insects
- A refillable water bottle

This is a great opportunity for individuals, families and groups to give back to nature while enjoying the outdoors. No prior experience is needed, just a willingness to get your hands dirty for a good cause. If you have any questions about this event, please call 540-862-8114.

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Virginia State Parks offers a range of special events and activities highlighting the importance of conservation and sustainability. Visitors are invited to participate in educational programs, guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tree plantings and service projects to help preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the state’s 43 parks.
