National Trails Day provides an opportunity for all outdoor enthusiasts to venture out onto their favorite trails for exercise and entertainment. First Landing has about 20 miles of trails, so before blazing ahead, be sure to grab a self-guided booklet and trail map to enhance your experience. While hiking, keep your eye out for a Ranger posted at the Cape Henry Trailheads closest to the Trail Center and 64th St. entrances. Visit their remote outposts to conduct bird watching, make trail recommendations, and answer all your burning questions about the park. Happy Trails!

About National Trails Day

On the first Saturday of June, Virginia State Parks celebrates National Trails Day, an annual event encouraging outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to explore hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Virginia’s 43 state parks offer guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops and volunteer opportunities to highlight trail stewardship and the importance of preserving trails for future generations.
