Fortifications throughout the Civil War came in many shapes and designs, using a small sand table and a few plastic figures, a ranger will demonstrate how a few select forts were constructed, the various terms and techniques that were used to describe defenses and how the forts themselves could be defended using plastic figures. Kids will also have a chance to build their own fort in the sand table at the end! Please call the Clover Visitor Center at (434) 454-4312 for more information.
About National Kids to Parks Day
Virginia State Parks celebrates National Kids to Parks Day on the third Saturday in May by offering a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, from nature scavenger hunts and ranger-led hikes to fishing clinics and flora and fauna wagon rides. This annual event encourages kids to explore the outdoors while learning about wildlife and engaging in hands-on environmental education.
