Hear the tale of star-crossed lovers that the trail is named after and view the tunnel from above. Hike along the mostly paved trail to the overlook and learn about the legend behind the name. The trail does have steps and is about a one-mile round trip. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather.

Natural Tunnel State Park is proud to offer red/green colorblindness correcting outdoor glasses by EnChroma during all offered programming; three protan red sensitivity and three deutan green sensitivity are available for use during programs.

To celebrate this significant anniversary, Virginia State Parks hosts History and Culture Day every year on June 15, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to explore the stories that make our parks special while enjoying the scenic beauty of its natural landscapes. From cultural demonstrations and reenactments to ranger-led kayaking tours and guided nature walks, History and Culture Day offers special programs for visitors of all ages.
