Join the Ranger on the Fishing Pavilion at the Old Pond to learn to fish! Learn to tie a knot and bait a hook, as well as casting and reeling. All equipment is provided by the park, just bring yourself and your willingness to learn! The Ranger will be available from 11am - 3pm, so feel free to stop by anytime during that time.
All children must be attended by a responsible adult, as we will be using live hooks during this program. Participants over age 15 must have a valid Virginia Freshwater Fishing License.
About National Kids to Parks Day
Virginia State Parks celebrates National Kids to Parks Day on the third Saturday in May by offering a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, from nature scavenger hunts and ranger-led hikes to fishing clinics and flora and fauna wagon rides. This annual event encourages kids to explore the outdoors while learning about wildlife and engaging in hands-on environmental education.
