Prowell the Powell - Mighty Mushrooms

The second installment of the "Prowl the Powell" nature series will take place on Saturday, July 19 at 9 am. Participants for the program entitled “Mighty Mushrooms” will meet park rangers at the front gate of the Museum. Participants will join park rangers and Virginia Master Naturalists on a walk in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. Learn about mushrooms and all those mysterious things that you see in the woods and in your lawns, that might be mushrooms or might not. This will be a journey through the natural world and into the depths beneath the soil, leaf litter, and bark, to a vast and expansive universe of life that is just below the surface our daily lives. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of the importance of natural life cycles and how to identify mushrooms and more.  

All “Prowl the Powell” programs will be held rain or shine. Participants are asked to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and comfortable walking shoes.
