When

May 17, 2025. 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

On February 19, 2019, one of our beloved rangers, Anna, left us too soon. Her life was tragically taken by an impaired driver.

Anna's mother, Kristine, will be honoring her memory during A Hike to Remember: Shenandoah Valley Walk Like MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).

Main Hike: The main hike will meet at Cullers Overlook. From the overlook, we will hike Overlook Trail, then stop at Anna's memorial bench for a moment of silence outside of the visitor center. After this, we will hike Hemlock Hollow Trail, Bluebell Trail, and Campground Trail. This trip is approximately 3 miles on easy to moderate terrain. The terrain is rocky in some parts, and there are several gradual slopes to ascend and descend.

Alternate Hike: Those wishing for a short hike can hike with us to the visitor center and after we stop by at Anna's Bench can make the round trip back to the overlook. This will be about 1 mile on easy terrain with few slopes.

For more information about the hike or how you can support Kristine's efforts, please call Kristine at 703-585-1757 or email her at kvillato5@yahoo.com. For other park information, please email megan.goin@dcr.virignia.gov.
