The second book in the Adventures of Syd Series, The Forgotten Town of Wash Woods, will be launched in celebration of Earth Day! Meet the author, Danielle Simone, the famous blue heeler Goose, and learn about this kayaking excursion through the Back Bay of Virginia to False Cape State Park. You'll even get to see the images of the lost cemetery the pair stumbled into and the nail they pulled from the shipwreck.
A rock scavenger hunt based on the story, A Trail of Trouble, will be available for families to scout out and find the most memorable characters and scenes from the book. This hunt is for children of all ages to come and explore along the River Trail. The trail is flat and you are welcome to walk at your own pace.

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Virginia State Parks offers a range of special events and activities highlighting the importance of conservation and sustainability. Visitors are invited to participate in educational programs, guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tree plantings and service projects to help preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the state’s 43 parks.
