Join us at Douthat State Park for Homeschool Naturalists, a monthly outdoor education series designed for homeschool students of all ages. Each session explores a different nature-based topic through hands-on activities, guided discovery, and time in the great outdoors.
This session of Homeschool Naturalist is Vernal Pool Explorers. We’ll visit a real vernal pool to search for signs of amphibian life, including frog and salamander eggs, tadpoles, and larvae. Along the way, we’ll learn why vernal pools are so important, what makes them different from other wetlands, and how they support unique species during a short window each year.
