Trail Mix Trek

Where
Program Location: Trail Center
Main Park Address: First Landing State Park, 2500 Shore Dr., Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
When
Jan. 1, 2026. 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Join us for a guided hike through the diverse wetland ecosystems of First Landing State Park, where five unique trails come together to showcase nature’s own “trail mix.” This immersive journey will take you through a variety of wetland habitats- including cypress swamps, salt marshes, and maritime forests.
As we meander through these rich environments, you’ll discover how water shapes the landscape, supports wildlife, and connects the park’s natural communities. Expect sightings of winter wildlife and maybe even a bald cypress “knee” or two! Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a curious explorer, this hike offers a refreshing mix of trails and terrains that highlight the park’s ecological diversity. Moderate hike approximately 3.5 miles in length with parts over uneven terrain.

About First Day Hikes
