Guided Hike - Signs of Change

Location of Sweet Run State Park in Virginia

Where

Program Location: Interpretive Center
Main Park Address: Sweet Run State Park, 11661 Harpers Ferry Road, Hillsboro, VA 20132.

When

March 15, 2026. 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Early spring is a time of subtle but exciting change, and this guided hike invites visitors to look closely for the first signs of the season waking up the forest and fields. Buds swelling on red maples, fresh green shoots pushing through leaf litter, bird song returning to the canopy, and early pollinators searching for blooms all hint at the shift from winter’s rest to spring’s renewal. As we explore, participants will learn how plants, animals, and the landscape respond to longer days and warmer temperatures, revealing the quiet transformations happening all around us. Wear comfortable hiking shoes and dress for the weather. The hike will traverse both meadow and woods with some moderately steep and rocky terrain. Meet us at the Interpretive Center at 12:45 p.m. to start the hike. Spring
