Ever wonder where rainwater goes after it hits the ground? Join us on Clean the Bay Day for an interactive activity that brings the watershed to life! Using an Enviroscape® model, we’ll explore how water moves through a watershed and see how everyday actions—like littering or using fertilizers—can lead to pollution in our streams and the Chesapeake Bay. Participants will watch how pollutants travel when it rains and learn simple ways we can all help keep our waterways clean. This hands-on demonstration is perfect for families and kids who want to understand the big picture of water quality and how our choices make a difference.
Parks are for everyone. If you have accessibility questions or concerns, please call 540-862-8114 or email Hannah.Johnson@dcr.virginia.gov.
About Clean the Bay Day
Each year Virginia State Parks participates in the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Clean the Bay Day, an event dedicated to protecting and preserving the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Park visitors are invited to join a clean-up to help remove litter, debris and pollution from rivers, streams and shorelines that feed into the Bay, contributing to the health of the Bay’s ecosystem and ensuring cleaner water and safer habitats for wildlife.
