Celebrate Earth Day by diving into the fascinating world of native fish. Join a ranger to explore the incredible diversity of species found in our lakes and streams. Learn how to identify fish by their unique features—can you tell a sunfish from a trout or a bass from a carp? Then, step into the shoes of early naturalists and fishermen as we create artistic nature prints using rubber fish models and paint. This hands-on activity blends science, art, and history, offering a fun way to appreciate the beauty and importance of aquatic life. Perfect for families, kids, and curious minds of all ages, this program is a great way to connect with nature and celebrate healthy ecosystems on Earth Day.

About Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, Virginia State Parks offers a range of special events and activities highlighting the importance of conservation and sustainability. Visitors are invited to participate in educational programs, guided nature walks, wildlife observation, tree plantings and service projects to help preserve the beauty and biodiversity of the state’s 44 parks.
