Did you know that Sky Meadows is in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed? Though we might be far from the famous shores of the Bay, even daily actions here in the heart of the Crooked Run Valley have an impact on our waterways. Join us for a special Explorer Outpost along the scenic Boston Mill Road Trail and learn how simple practices, like installing fences and planting trees, help keep our streams and the Chesapeake Bay clean.
At our interactive station, kids and adults can explore a hands-on watershed table to see how water flows through our landscape and learn all about the stewardship actions you can take to be a watershed warrior.
Whether you’re a curious kid, a nature enthusiast, or just out for a hike, you’ll discover how we all play a role in keeping our waterways healthy. Stop by and see how small changes make a big difference for the Bay!
About Clean the Bay Day
Each year Virginia State Parks participates in the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Clean the Bay Day, an event dedicated to protecting and preserving the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Park visitors are invited to join a clean-up to help remove litter, debris and pollution from rivers, streams and shorelines that feed into the Bay, contributing to the health of the Bay’s ecosystem and ensuring cleaner water and safer habitats for wildlife.
