Do you want to help make a difference? Help us remove trash that could end up in our waterways! Machicomoco State Park is lucky to not have a lot of trash left at the main unit, however that’s not true for the west unit! Enjoy guided access to the unopened portion of the park, while bettering it for the future. All supplies are provided. The activity does involve walking, uneven terrain, and going through overgrown areas. We recommend comfortable walking shoes, pants, water, and a long sleeve or light jacket. Sign up is required, directions will be provided post registration.
About Clean the Bay Day
Each year Virginia State Parks participates in the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Clean the Bay Day, an event dedicated to protecting and preserving the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Park visitors are invited to join a clean-up to help remove litter, debris and pollution from rivers, streams and shorelines that feed into the Bay, contributing to the health of the Bay’s ecosystem and ensuring cleaner water and safer habitats for wildlife.
