Ready to see the forest wake up after winter? Join Master Naturalist Kim Manion for a short, guided hike focused on the fascinating world of spring tree identification. As buds swell and leaves begin to emerge, it’s the perfect time to learn how to recognize trees by their budding patterns, early leaves, bark texture, and branching shapes—skills that will deepen the way you experience the forest in the growing season.
Kim will share her expert tips and surprising tricks to help you confidently identify Virginia’s trees as they come back to life after winter. The walk takes place on Buck Lick Trail, an easy, family-friendly trail that covers less than half a mile on gentle terrain—perfect for all experience levels.
