Long ago, giant beasts roamed the lands we now call Virginia...put yourself into the shoes of an Ice Age hunter in this spear-throwing workshop using an ancient spear-throwing device: the atlatl! The atlatl was used on the North American continent and all over the world, enabling both men and women to efficiently hunt megafauna such as woolly mammoths and giant ground sloths. Come try your hand at spear-throwing and experience the power of the atlatl!

Stop by any time between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; new groups will be rotated in every 15 minutes or so. This activity is best suited for ages 10 and up. Children under the age of 10 will need to be assisted by their adult guardian at all times. Please wear closed-toe shoes.
