B.A.R.K. Ranger Guided Hike - From Survival to Stewardship

Location of Sweet Run State Park in Virginia

Where

Program Location: Interpretive Center
Main Park Address: Sweet Run State Park, 11661 Harpers Ferry Road, Hillsboro, VA 20132.

When

April 26, 2026. 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Explore the evolution of the park with your B.A.R.K. Ranger and learn how natural resources once supported the people who lived here, and how those same lands are cared for today. Along the way, uncover stories of the historic community and modern stewardship efforts. B.A.R.K. Ranger principles will be shared as well as creative ways to introduce your ranger to the park. Wear comfortable hiking shoes and dress for the weather. Pets should be on a six foot leash, have a current rabies vaccination and get along well with other people and pets. Following the hike, B.A.R.K. Ranger stickers and certificates will be distributed. The hike will traverse meadow and woods with some moderately steep and rocky terrain not suitable for strollers. Meet at the Interpretive Center at 12:45 p.m. to start the hike.
