There are lots of ways to have adventures at New River Trail State Park!

We invite families to join us for Kids Adventure Day where we'll offer various ways to have fun outside. We'll have hike and bike Stations to learn how to use and share the trail; Creek Critters exploration; photo opportunities with Parker Fox - the Virginia State Parks Mascot - a coloring station, nature viewing, community and more!

12-2 pm Bike and Hike Stations

12-2 pm Photo Ops with Parker Red Fox, the Virginia State Park Mascot
2-3 pm Bird presentation by Nature's Echo

Bikes are welcome at this event. Please wear your helmets.

About National Kids to Parks Day

Virginia State Parks celebrates National Kids to Parks Day on the third Saturday in May by offering a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, from nature scavenger hunts and ranger-led hikes to fishing clinics and flora and fauna wagon rides. This annual event encourages kids to explore the outdoors while learning about wildlife and engaging in hands-on environmental education.
