Pocahontas Premieres: Mini Bluegrass Festival

Pocahontas Premieres, once again, is having its Mini Bluegrass Festival. This 2026 concert brings back some performers from the past as well as some new groups performing for the first time at Pocahontas State Park. Our Heritage Amphitheater will be the stage this year for the following groups:
Josh Grigsby and County Line is a bluegrass band based out of the beautiful Northern Neck of Virginia. The band started in 2014 by lead singer and rhythm guitarist Josh and his wife Crystal. Josh Grigsby and County Line was awarded the 2015 Bluegrass Band of Virginia Championship by the Virginia Folk Music Association. In addition to winning the Band Championship, Josh Grigsby was voted first place Male Vocals. More band info HERE.
Tara Mills Band, based out of Charlottesville, is inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the rich musical traditions tied to them. Tara Mills describes her music as, "original mountain americana;" an original blend of folk, bluegrass, and americana. Tara combines her lyrics and voice with southern Virginia native Gabe Robey to create a very powerful yet driving original sound described as a mix of modern-day folk, bluegrass, and americana. Garden Variety String Band is an award-winning bluegrass band based in Richmond, VA. The five-piece band consist of Wyatt Peake (Vocals/Fiddle), Charlie Rosser (Vocals/Guitar), DJ Roller (Vocals/Mandolin), Stephen Weinstock (Bass), and Ben Everhart (Banjo). Inspired by old time, folk, and bluegrass music, GSVB performances are a nod to the past with a modern twist. More band info HERE.
David Wade and Black Mountain is a traditional bluegrass quartet from Central Virginia. Rooted in driving rhythms and vocal harmonies, they blend heartfelt originals with high-energy renditions of bluegrass standards. Featuring guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bass, their foot-stomping sound brings the timeless spirit of Virginia bluegrass to the stage. More band info HERE.
Gates open one hour before show time. Admission is $20 per person, and children ages 5 and under are free. Advanced tickets are available online or at the Park Office. Parking fee required at all times. This event is sponsored by Friends of Pocahontas State Park .
