Explore the hidden hamlet of Wash Woods and see the various coastal habitats of False Cape. Experience the maritime forest, live oak hammock, dunes, beachfront, and an 1800s cemetery during this ranger-led hike. Hike is approximately 3 miles with parts over soft sand. This hike is rated as "moderate" difficulty. Please bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and water at your discretion. Cost is $10 per person and reservations are required. Please use this LINK to register. Transportation through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge will be provided via an open-air tram.

About National Trails Day

On the first Saturday of June, Virginia State Parks celebrates National Trails Day, an annual event encouraging outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to explore hiking, biking and equestrian trails. Virginia’s 44 state parks offer guided hikes, trail maintenance workshops and volunteer opportunities to highlight trail stewardship and the importance of preserving trails for future generations.
