What's under that rock? We'll search the creek for underwater creatures and explain their roles in the environment and what they mean to Stock Creek. Please wear closed-toe shoes and expect to get wet. This program is conducted in accordance with Virginia state law; park staff possess the proper permits and training to collect and briefly handle certain aquatic wildlife.

Ride the chairlift or hike down Tunnel Trail, follow the sign to the right towards the Carter Cabin, and you will see the rangers at the creek just before the bridge.

Natural Tunnel State Park is proud to offer red/green colorblindness correcting outdoor glasses by EnChroma during all offered programming; three protan red sensitivity and three deutan green sensitivity are available for use during programs.

About National Kids to Parks Day

Virginia State Parks celebrates National Kids to Parks Day on the third Saturday in May by offering a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, from nature scavenger hunts and ranger-led hikes to fishing clinics and flora and fauna wagon rides. This annual event encourages kids to explore the outdoors while learning about wildlife and engaging in hands-on environmental education.
